Pair of Original, Rare French Art Deco Rosewood Cubist Arm/ Club Chairs
By René Joubert and Philippe Petit
Located in New York City, NY
An important and rare pair of original French Art Deco period cubist arm chairs of simple and very elegant design. The warm brown finished rosewood is exceptionally well-figured and trimmed with a thin nickeled bronze decorative banding all around the base and overall. Since these chairs are finished on all three sides, they can be placed freestanding in the middle of a room featuring a beautiful back. Antique hob nails as welting surround the caramel colored upholstered leather. Futuristic, clean and architectural lines grace this pair of side chairs and read like art but are made for everyday use and enjoyment.
Attrib to : Decoration Interieure Modernes- Rene Joubert ( 1878-1931) et Philippe Petit ( 1900-1945 ) for DIM
The chairs are of medium scale and have a firm but comfortable seat, arm as well as backrest. There are a few almost undiscernible antique repairs on the wood and some small, unnoticeable light scratches/ scuffs on the upholstery.
There is a small space between the seat and the back rest. They are in very good condition.
