Antique Islamic Moorish Syrian Carved Inlaid Mother of Pearl Corner Chair 1880
About the Item
A fine antique 19th century Islamic Moorish style inlaid corner chair, Damascus work from Syria, circa 1880.
The corner chair is made from hardwood and has a crest to the back with Arabesque carving, the continuous armrest with corresponding carving and inlaid with mother of pearl star shaped decoration. The chair back with twin inlaid panels of mother of pearl with 'cross' shaped decoration with turned spindle & ball decoration, to the base of the chair is a panel of spindle & ball decoration on each of the four sides, the legs also having inlaid mother of pearl decoration.
Condition is very good the chair is stable & robust and comfortable.
