Mid 19th Century Karl Johan Swedish Daybed

About the Item

Beautiful antique mid 19th century Swedish Karl Johan period daybed. It has been upholstered in a rich chenille fabric and has retained its original durable horse hair stuffing. The frame is made from birch with slightly curved slatted sides. At some point old wooden support slats were added to the back to make this more useful as a settee and consequently if you wanted to use as a daybed, these reclaimed slats could be easily removed to allow the one side to drop down.
