About the Item

These elegant dining chairs and matching armchairs were crafted in England, circa 1870. Carved from solid oak, each chair features a rectangular back dressed with foliated finials at the pediment. Each chair has a wide and deep seat over shaped and hand carved reeded support legs reflecting a classical or Renaissance revival design; the chair is embellished with a solid bottom stretcher, adding stability and enhancing the robust aesthetic. Every seat and back is upholstered with a wonderful patinated thick brown leather and embellished with large decorative brass nailheads. Both armchairs have open armrests upholstered with leather as well. The Jacobean style suite of chairs, is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns a rich dark walnut patina. These six side chairs with matching armchairs would be a perfect addition around a dining table, and would exude an undeniable old world British look. Measures: Side chair 20" W x 18.5" D x 38" H. Armchair 24.5" W x 21" D x 38.75" H.
