Wonderful 1960’s Mid Century Scandinavian Modern dining chairs Attributed to Johannes Andersen Juliane chair, set of 4 comprised of teak frames and new black canvas fabric seats. This piece has been attributed based upon archived research including online sources, vintage documentation and catalogs, designer literature, and other materials. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that these are vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. We had to replace one of the original seats and they all have been reupholstered with new black canvas fabric. The chair with new seat had some plugs see photos. The frames have been touched up where there was wear and a fresh coat of Danish oil applied. Please see photos and zoom in for details. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, 1960’s. WOW!! These chairs have clean lines, superb quality, and bear a timeless Scandinavian Modern design that you are sure to love for years to come. Information on Johannes Andersen is quite limited, so we have gleaned information from other online sources and have learned that it is thought that he was born in 1903 in Aarhus, Denmark. Also, his design career started out as a cabinetmaker which he did for many years before he opened his own architectural and furniture workshop around 1930. His designs include furnishings such as seating, tables, and storage cabinets using high quality materials such as teak and rosewood. He attracted international attention with his Danish designs particularly his sculptured “Smile Table.” He worked from his own company as well as with other Danish, Norwegian, and Swedish companies until he closed his workshop in the 1980’s.
