About the Item

Introducing a rare, Dutch-made armchair produced by the lauded Amsterdam-based De Klerk & Sons. Built from a frame of solid Brazilian rosewood with stunning, variegated woodgrains unique to the rare hardwood this chair has been recently and meticulously restored featuring new leather upholstery painstakingly hand-stitched to the exact layout and scheme as the original. The rosewood has been hand-sanded and refinished bringing the outstanding woodgrains back to their original luster. Founded in 1873, Hendrik Hubertus de Klerk established a small shop, from which he started selling the braided rugs and mats. Over the years, the company became The Netherland’s largest department store for interiors and furniture. From there, De Klerk developed even further, eventually becoming a leading name in interior design, manufacturing and project implementation around the world. Hendrik Hubertus de Klerk’s descendants designed and manufactured the interiors of many prestigious objects. A large number of renowned organizations entrusted De Klerk to create the interiors for their hotels, theatres, offices, churches and universities, resulting in an impressive and eclectic portfolio. In 1971, the company, by then known as De Klerk Binnenbouw, completed the acquisition of Royal Furniture Manufacturer H.P. Mutters & Zoon. In 1978, the company received its first assignment by Feadship, an association of Dutch shipyards, widely regarded as an authority in custom-built super yachts. Since then, De Klerk Binnenbouw has made a significant contribution to many Feadship yachts and is part of Koninklijke De Vries Scheepsbouw Group since 2015. This truly one-of-a-kind, artfully crafted and restored armchair is perfect for designers and collectors alike searching for an extraordinary chair that is as rare and unique as it is visually captivating and comfortable.
