Art Deco Detailed Amsterdam School Chair 1920s
About the Item
A richly detailed oak Amsterdam School chair from the early 1920s, the Netherlands. A chic look from the Art Deco period with slightly curved oak sides. This chair has a coromandel ornament at the top and accents on the side and on 2 legs at the front. The green faded seat from a later period is secured with decorative nails.
The Amsterdam School is a style of architecture that manifested itself between 1910 and 1940 in the Netherlands which pursued functionality, purity and simplicity. This style is characterized by unusual shapes and decorative elements, making this architectural style expressionist.
