Created during Rachlis's time with the prestigious Dresden-based furniture makers, this chair is a standout piece from a custom-designed dining room commissioned by the Berlin politician Johann Baptist Gradl around 1930.
The chair’s striking frame is crafted from solid hardwood, with the legs veneered in zebrawood, giving it a distinctive and luxurious appearance. The seat features a finely tuned nosag spring construction, combined with a mix of hessian, palm fiber, and cotton wool for optimal comfort, while the backrest is belted to match. The chair is upholstered in a rich, petrol-colored cotton velour, adding an air of sophistication and an inviting texture to the piece.
