About the Item
Circa 1730-50 set of 6 dining side chairs, English. George II period in Queen Anne to Georgian transitional design. Rarely found early set of the finest quality; red walnut (mahogany). The rounded seats reflect the curves of the legs & returns. Note the exquisite detail of the scroll tips carrying through from crest rails to leg returns. Cabriole legs ending in pad feet. Shaped aprons. Rear stretcher for strength. Fine old cleaned finish. Slip seats. From an English country house.
