  • Mosaiced Chair in Chestnut Wood with Mosaic Seat by Hillsideout
    By Rossana Orlandi, Hillsideout
    Located in Milan, IT
The Mosaiced chair is part of the mosaiced furniture collection that finds its inspiration in the element ‘water’. It’s made of restored chair from 1790, which belong to the style of Louis XVI. The chair is lightened through the sitting made of a transparent plexiglass plate. The colored mosaics above, which are immersed in resin, refer to the Romanesque period but through a contemporary use of materials. The transparency permits a new way of using antique chairs...

  • Eutopia Armchair in Kiri Wood by Francisco Gomez Paz
By Francisco Gomez Paz, Rossana Orlandi

Eutopia has a sophisticated structure: this armchair is made up of four pieces of multi-laid wood that intersect and then separate again in the seat, allowing different planes to work in their own forceful directions to hold the seat and the armrests. The designer has made an extremely resistant wooden chair which surprisingly weighs just 1,800 grams and which can bear resistance tests with 100kg loads and more. Materials: Plywood and Kiri wood...

  • 'Futbolin' Foosball Game Table in Blended Woods by Hillsideout
    By Rossana Orlandi, Hillsideout
    Located in Milan, IT
Alexandre de Fisterra - known as the inventor of the foosball table - was 17 years old (probably the same age as the boys playing in the mountains) when he was severely wounded in one of the bombings of Madrid during the Spanish Civil War. After the bombings, he was transferred to Montserrat and the hermit monks in the ancient monastery situated in the Pyrenees. Back then, the Abbey of Montserrat was seen as a sanctuary of scholars, artists, politicians and students. In Montserrat, he met numerous mutilated children, especially those injured and disabled in the lower limbs. "None of them", Alejandro Finisterre thought, "could play football anymore". At that point he had a brilliant intuition: starting from the table tennis, he invented the futboli´n, the modern football...

  • Sand Senses Cupboard in Wood by Hillsideout
    By Rossana Orlandi, Hillsideout
    Located in Milan, IT
The Sand Senses cupboard features materials made with sand and surface that stimulate senses when touched. Sand seems to have no limit. Burnt sand makes the Murano glass transparent. Concrete incorporates more than one type of sand - one comes from the river and the other one has been transformed through a chemical process. Wood is sandblasted and treated with oil-wax to obtain the smoothest surface possible. Geometric shapes can be found in the concrete legs, in the cupboard doors, as well as on the top enriched with openings in colored Murano glass. With its four colorful doors, two drawers and several shelves, this piece turns out to be a very aesthetically pleasing and practical cupboard; representing the perfect solution for both storing and showcase use...
