Fabulous MCM (a.k.a.) mid-century modern Chromcraft ribbed or channeled black vinyl faux leather & chrome dining chairs set of 6. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. These chairs are in ready-to-use condition with no outstanding flaws we have detected. Dining chairs EXTRORDINAIRE!!! This is an AMAZING set of six dining chairs by Chromcraft comprised of gorgeous chrome tube frames and legs with chrome swivel feet that have nylon glide pads. The silhouette of this great chair is very svelte and has an overall taper from top to bottom. They have wonderful tall seat backs that are trapezoid in shape, narrower at the top than the bottom, and feature a faux leather ribbed, or channeled back cushion which floats between the top and the seat. The channeled vinyl seat cushions are also shaped like a trapezoid with rounded corners … it’s an awesome detail! And they don’t only LOOK fantastic, they’re SUPER comfortable! Whether at a dining table, game table, or around a conference table at the office, these chairs bare a fabulous design which is both Mod and Retro but classic and timeless at the same time. They are sure to be phenomenal surrounding any table for years to come.
Chromcraft was originally named American Fixture and Manufacturing Company and began business in Missouri in 1908. In 1939 they began making metal furniture. Since chrome was the material of the age, they named that division Chromcraft and later incorporated it as a separate company in 1955. By 1960 needing to expand they constructed a plant in Senatobia, Mississippi. Changing hands and consolidating with other companies they remained in business until 2014. In 2015 their assets were purchased, and they once again began production. Chromcraft is best known for its fabulous mid-century dinette sets.

Fantastic vintage Art Deco set of 3 chrome tube and original black vinyl or faux leather chairs attributed to Kem Weber Z Chair. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that these are vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. The frames have scratches consistent with age and on two of the chairs the texture on the vinyl is a bit different than the third chair. These chairs also have an extra factory hole in the arm on opposite sides leading us to believe these may have been originally part of a ganged set. They work perfectly as singles, however. Please see photos and zoom in for details. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, 1920-1940’s.

Excellent set of eight black Torsion dining chairs designed by Giancarlo Piretti for KI. There are seven arm chairs and one side chair. They are in wonderful vintage condition with minor wear that you would expect with age. Please see photos, circa 1995.
In 1997 Giancarlo Piretti received an award for his Torsion seating collection. These chairs are part of that collection. Designed and made initially and primarily for commercial purpose they are extremely comfortable and flexible. They are lightweight and stackable. This set has an attractive textured high impact black plastic seat, back, and arms on chrome legs. No one expects this chair have the comfort it provides. The back flexes. This flex is achieved with the torsion mechanism which creates gradually increasing resistance. They were designed for comfort during long meetings or lectures. But, that makes them perfect for long dinners with lots of conversation. Or, family night with puzzles, cards, and games.
The designer, Giancarlo Piretti, was born in Bologna Italy in 1940. He attended art schools there and subsequently taught Interior Design. During that time, he was also designing furniture for Anonima Castelli. He has won numerous awards and has items in many museums including MoMA New York. He still lives and works in Bologna with is son, designer Alessandro Piretti.
