Midcentury Modern Italian Design Beech & Leather Dining Chairs, 1980s, Set of 6
About the Item
Set of six Italian dining chairs, made in the late 80s.
They feature an ash wood structure and a black leather seat.
They remind the shapes Afra and Tobia Scarpa proposed before with “Africa” and Mario Marenco with “Sapporo” chairs.
Excellent vintage condition.
Afra (1937-2011) & Tobia (1935-) Scarpa studied at the Venice Institute of Architecture. Tobia first worked for the Italian glass manufacturer Venini. From 1960 on, the couple opened their own design office. Their work includes architecture and everyday items like furniture and clothing. Tobia and Afra designed for numerous major Italian and international companies like Flos, Gavina, B&B Italia, Cassina, Knoll International, and many interior projects for numerous companies worldwide.
Their furniture design projects include iconic pieces, such as the Soriana sofa for Cassina and the Monk chairs for Molteni.
