Portuguese Three Chairs with Codtail Backs
About the Item
Three chairs with codtail backs. Painted wood, with cut-out backs and a hollowed-out ‘heart’ silhouette, evoking a popular, rustic style, possibly of Scandinavian or Central European inspiration. The chairs stand on turned, slightly inclined legs, joined by ‘H’ crosspieces that reinforce their structure. Two of the chairs are painted white, with marks of use and wear that give them a patinated and authentic character; the third, in dark wood, has an upholstered seat with floral print fabric in green, orange and brown tones.
The combination of simple shapes and the decorative detail of the backrest gives them a cosy, country feel, ideal for informal settings, country houses or interiors with a vintage aesthetic. Pieces with decorative or creative restoration potential, they can also be reinterpreted in design projects with contemporary intervention.
