Set of 14 Chairs, Iron and Silk Upholstery, 1950s, Brazilian Midcentury
About the Item
These vintage Brazilian chairs were manufactured in the 1950s and still have the authorship unidentified by our team. The pieces were reupholstered with gorgeous fabric, 100% Organic Silk, from our collection Bossa Fabrics.
Tenreiro Moveis e Decoraçoes and Móveis Artesanal and Forma (Carlo Hauner and Martin Eisler) were pioneer companies to produce Modern Design in Brazil. Both companies used to stamp covers of the major Architecture and Design publications; it was the right choice for the best architects and interior designers.
In the normal flow of the market, their designs inspired many other small manufacturers with their vanguard production, materially (cane and leather), and the "modern values" of the form itself.
We consider this chair a free inspiration for the iconic iron chair designed by Martin Eisler for Móveis Artesanal, which illustrates the company's logotype.
