About the Item
A set of four circa 1980 Brutalist metal and leather dining chairs attributed to notable Israeli artist and sculptor Ilana Goor (b. 1936.)
Striking and unique in their design, materials, and hand-worked fabrication. Geometrically complex sculptural frame features steel rebar, metal rods, and wrought iron construction with welded joinery, ring elements, and wrapped wire details. Finished in a clear coat over mostly raw or blackened metal with hints of rust-colored lacquer that perfectly complements the natural, mostly arrested patina.
Cowhide and pigskin leather seat and back with hand-sewn dyed string edges are a mottled reddish-brown and display handsome and authentically earned character. Giltwood balls that cap the ends of the uppermost horizontal bar add a nice bit of understated decoration.
Each chair weighs a substantial 32 pounds, with some minor variations in dimensions due to their hand-crafted nature. Seats are H 19 in. x W 18 in. x D 13.75 in.

- Condition:Wear consistent with age and use. Frames: intentional light patina; one end of metal strap under front edge of one seat is detached, which doesn't effect stability but can be felt slightly when in use. Leather: multiple marks, scuffs, and stains; hole under seat from metal strap.
