About the Item
A Set of eight exquisitely proportioned, hand carved Mahogany Chippendale style Dining Chairs, ca 1890.
The most masculine design in seating of all times periods (because of the bold shoulders and ears on the top of the back and of course the infamous Eagle claw holding a ball) Thomas Chippendale has been desirable because his chair models are on a large scale and comfortable.
They are custom built out of heavy mineral rich Mahogany, that was available at that time and is rich brown Mahogany in color. The masterful carvings on the back are of Stalactites and foliate S&C- curves. The seats are newly upholstered in silk Fortuné.
