Set of Four Venetian Parcel Gilt Painted Shield Back Dining Chairs
About the Item
Extraordinary set of four Italian artisan painted dining chairs decorated in the Venetian taste. The chairs feature a shield back or cartouche shaped back. The painted frames are embellished with parcel gilt accents and neoclassical motifs of acanthus and rosettes. The chairs have a distinctive geometric upholstery with a diamond pattern in a light green tone. The fabric is bordered by green and white tasseled trim in a whimsical style. The seat is bowed in the front with gilt rosettes around the apron above the legs. The chairs are supported by square tapered column legs decorated with gilt hanging bell flowers. Excellent joinery and craftsmanship with ornate baroque style embellishments in gilt. The painted gilt finish has an intentionally aged patina to mimic an 18th century piece. Solid and sturdy with a unique profile.

- Condition:Wear consistent with age and use. Beautifully crafted with strong solid joinery. Age appropriate wear with an intentionally distressed patina on the gilt and painted finish as seen in photos. Upholstery on seats appears to be newly done. Minor stains as seen in photo.
