English Antique Carved Mahogany Dining Chairs, Set of 6

About the Item

George III style carved mahogany set of six dining chairs circa first half of the 20th century Item # 009ZMO18Q A very finely carved mahogany set of dining chairs in the George III taste, they feature a robust pierced splat with intricate displays of curled acanthus foliage set in opposing C-scrolls over a beaded shoe. Each is recently upholstered in a high quality coral linen with tasteful modern stylized flowers in beige. They are raised over molded legs locked firmly in place with a box stretcher. For the traditional home, these are a simply fantastic set of dining chairs. We may actually still have two additional chairs available in the shop - they were removed from the set and are being sold separately due to some carving losses on the splats that make them less than perfect, but contact us for more information if a full set of eight is required. These are incredibly comfortable chairs of remarkably high quality. Measurements: [arm chairs] 37 1/2" H x 25" D x 26" W x 18" H to seat; [side chairs] 36 14" H x 22 3/4" D x 22" W Condition report: ARM CHAIRS: Chunk loss on arm chair where left arm meets the stile; this arm has a light wiggle to it, functional enough but would benefit from being tightened at some point. Repairs to left stile and upper right corner of crest rail of the other arm chair. SIDE CHAIRS: Hairline vertical crack through rosette of one side chair lattice-back splat, other side chairs with minor vertical cracks in splat design - all cracks are cosmetic only, not structurally affecting. One side chair with a spliced front left foot. Two side chairs with some wiggle in the joints; these would benefit from being tightened if the chairs are reupholstered at some point. Three side chairs are perfect replications of the other five chairs. Most stretchers with wear, but one side chair mid stretcher bar is more heavily worn. OVERALL: All chairs have surface wear: dings, abrasions, scars, etc. from use and wear. Fabric is contemporary, comfortable and supportive; fabric in overall good condition with only minor blemishes.
