About the Item
This exquisite set of six Louis XV-style cabriolet armchairs evokes the opulent curves and comfort of 18th-century French rococo design, crafted circa 1940s. Hand-carved from beechwood with sinuous cabriole legs, scrolling arms, and delicate shell and acanthus motifs, the frames feature a desirable pickled (limed) finish—stripped and distressed to reveal the natural wood grain beneath a soft whitewash for an authentic, timeworn patina. The enveloping caned backs provide breathable elegance, while the seats and backs are upholstered in a red damask fabric with intricate diamond lattice, offering modern comfort without sacrificing vintage allure. Perfect for a dining ensemble or as statement pieces. Excellent restored condition: frames professionally stabilized, no structural issues, upholstery is newer but vintage with age-appropriate wear.
