Rosewood and Leather Footstool by Madsen & Larson For Pontoppidan
About the Item
This is a beautiful Danish modern footstool designed by Aksel Bender Madsen and Ejner Larsen and made by Ludvig Pontopiddian in the late 1950s. The footstool boasts a solid rosewood frame with nice joinery detail such as through tennons on the stretchers and splined miters on the leg corners. One look, and it is clear that this Madsen and Larsen Ottoman is an expertly crafted piece of mid-century modern furniture. The rosewood has a rich dark brown/red/purple hue that makes it interesting and attractive. Best used as a footstool, not as a sitting stool. The piece has a new leather sling and canvas support layer so that it can continue to offer comfort and support for decades to come. Would complement a rosewood or other wooden lounge chair, creating a comfortable and attractive seating option in the home or office.
