19th Century Louis XVI Style Carved Five Piece Gilt Salon Suite

About the Item

19th century Louis XVI style carved five piece gilt salon suite consisting of canapé sofa and four fauteuil chairs all complete with tapestry upholstery. The sofa with giltwood frame has an oval ribbon carved back, and shaped padded armrests terminating in scrolled handrests with carved floral decorations. It has a shaped seat and fluted tapered legs. This suite is complete with four matching fauteuil armchairs having oval backs and shaped seats. On all five pieces, the backs and seats are coved in matching needlepoint upholstery depicting classical scenes from country life.
