Louis XV Style Giltwood and Tapestry upholstered salon suite, 19 th century
About the Item
This salon suite is nineteenth century, comprising of a settee
And four arm chairs, each with an arched crest rail centering
A stylized shell and foliage flanked by blossoming stems above a serpentine rectangular back issuing padded scrolled arms on
A trapezoidal seat and similarly detailed seat rail raised on
Acanthus carved cabriole legs, with Aubusson style tapestry
Upholstery throughout depicting bucolic landscapes and scenes
Of peasants at various pursuits. The chairs measure
25” w 21” deep 39.5” h seat height 20”
The carving is well done and the gilding is in original condition
With a bit of wear to the gilding on the arms. The overall condition is good.
