Large sectional sofa in dark brown leather by De De Sede DS 76 Switzerland. Six elements with a high backrest. Ultra comfortable. The elements can also be used as a bed when unfolded. The back is covered with leather and can be placed freely in the room. Very good condition with a nice patina. Measurements per item: Wide 90 cm, depth 90 cm, height 82 cm. Seat height 42 cm. About De Sede: "De Sede" is probably the very name for quality in leather furniture production. A whole collection of the finest seating furniture, from armchairs and sofas to stools, loungers and benches, offers every user the great pleasure of furniture in addition to the matching tables or the highest quality patio furniture. Each piece is manufactured in Switzerland, guarantees the finest materials and highest quality workmanship and is popular all over the world, to which about 70% of the collection is exported. Classics, such as the DS-600 series element set, are in use even by the most prominent stars from the music and film industries, also because of the seemingly unlimited design and extension possibilities of the sofa. But de Sede also describes another special feature of design furniture: its style is characterised by the straightforwardness of the BAUHAUS generation around Mies van der Rohe. The lines are slender and filigree, while objectivity and functionalism create a minimalism that is convincingly perceived as luxury. International designers were committed to creating the collection and their innovative ideas created the outstanding "de Sede" brand worldwide. In addition to the Swiss designer Alfredo Häberli, born in Argentina, and the Swiss architect Stephan Hürlemann, Kurt Thut probably shaped the style of the company in particular. Kurt Thut, the leading designer from the Aargau region, designed his most important furniture creations in the 1990s. His folding cabinet as well as his scissor bed have become classics. As a trained carpenter, he attended the Zurich School of Applied Arts, which was dominated by former graduates of the BAUHAUS School, i.e. a generation of teachers such as Hans Bellmann, Willy Guhl and Johannes Itten. He also met later companions such as Alfred Hablützel there. With him and a few other designers he founded the collective "Swiss Design". Minimalism, also in the use of materials, became his guiding principle, which he then carried to "de Sede". "De Sede" celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2012 in Klingau, at that time with about 100 employees. The former family business of master saddler Ernst Lüthy was already converted into a successful AG in 1965 and exports to over 40 countries worldwide. The idea of the beginning to manufacture high-quality leather furniture by hand remains the basis of the famous company to this day, despite several changes in management and ownership.
