1st Generation Mr Chair and Ottoman by George Mulhauser for Plycraft

About the Item

George Mulhauser designed this incredibly comfortable and attractive Mr Chair and ottoman in early 1960. We have restored the bentwood walnut shell and reupholstered in brand new black diamond tufted leather.  The Mr Chair first debuted at the International Home Furnishings Market in Chicago in January of 1960. We love these chairs for their amazing bentwood plywood and beautiful walnut wood grain. George Mulhauser's Mr Chair is celebrated for its innovative design, comfort, and timeless appeal, embodying the ethos of mid-century modernism. It rotates 360 degrees*. The Mr Chair is an iconic piece of mid-century modern furniture. George Mulhauser was an American industrial designer known for his contributions to the furniture design industry during the mid-20th century. Mr. Chair is often associated with the Plycraft company, for which Mulhauser designed it in the 1950s. The chair features a distinctive organic shape with a molded plywood shell for the seat and backrest, supported by a swivel base often made of aluminum. The design is characterized by its flowing lines, pitched back and tufted upholstery. This chair will be at home in most spaces, it is an amazing reading or napping chair. Great smaller footprint. 33 in L x 36 in W x 33 H Seat Height: 13 in H
