This pair of Danish cabinetmaker chairs, is a great example of the Danish mid-century modern aesthetic. With their architectural, dark stained wood frames and bodies upholstered in brown cow hide, these lounge chairs are stylish, and in possession of a modern edge that doesn’t forsake traditional craftsmanship and quality. Danish design is torn between epochs; it is a term that accommodates both the functional craftsmanship of the mid-century era Golden Age, and the present-day appreciation of Hygge. This is without a doubt a difficult task, however these chairs manage to encapsulate both ideals. From the angular solid wood frames and the sculptural stretchers to the luxurious upholstery, these chairs express a quality of cosiness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment. These lounge chairs have a distinctive shape, resulting from the sharp angles of the frames and the gently rounded edges of both the wood and the seats and backs. The design has a raised profile that serves to raise the level of sitting comfort and structural stability, while it also creates a welcoming impression.
