Diego Mattu for 1P, pair of 'Malù' lounge chairs, fabric, ABS plastic, Italy, 1969 Diego Mattu's Malù creation introduces exceptionally cozy lounge chairs produced by the Italian company 1P. These chairs are made to reach an ultimate level of comfort as can clearly be recognized in the design. The chairs boast a substantial, rounded seat and backrest that dominate the overall layout. The units are executed in beige fabric and attached in vivid folds, giving the chairs more texture. The foundation is constructed from ABS, a durable plastic frequently used in furniture design of this period. These chairs can function as standalone pieces or can be arranged side by side to form a sofa arrangement. This design aesthetic not only reflects the new production technology of the time, but also captures the redefinition of mobility in the 1960s-70s, which was driven by the desire for a playful and relaxed environment. Please note that the fabric is in good, used condition with stains and wear. Reupholstery is possible before shipping by our experienced craftsman and -women in our own in-house restoration atelier.
