French Midcentury Modern Lounge Chair
About the Item
A distinctive midcentury lounge chair from France circa 1950s, taking inspiration from the easygoing spirit of postwar American modern furniture and balanced with French sophistication. This example is constructed of a tubular steel frame painted black with caramel-tone faux leather upholstered elements: a thick seat cushion, a reclined back, and two dainty armrests. The rear legs are set unusually far back, enhancing the overall profile of the design while also providing stability to enjoy this very comfortable lounge chair for long periods of time. Likely original upholstery has a few areas of wear and splashes of teal paint but overall in good, vintage condition. No visible signature.
