Armchair, teak and rattan, Hartmut Lohmeyer, manufactured by Wilkhahn, teak, cane, striped brown beige upholstery, Germany, design 1956, production 1960s. This low reclining armchair is sensuous and is organically shaped. They feature a slightly tilted back and are executed with tapered legs. The softly bent armrests and open frame create a very calming, inviting space. The chair is upholstered with a neutral toned horizontal striped fabric that forms a perfect match with the patterns of the cane and wood. Hartmut Loymeyer (1923-) was trained as an architect at the Technische Hochschule. Here he studied under Egon Eiermann. And later became a furniture designer too. He developed furniture for the home in particular for Wilkhahn in the 1950s and 1960s.
