About the Item

Pair of Mid-Century Falcon lounge chairs designed by Norwegian industrial and interior designer, Sigurd Ressell (1920-2010) in collaboration with iconic furniture manufacturer, Vatne Mobler. A rich legacy follows the Vatne Mobler brand whose mid-century modern and Scandinavian modern lounge chairs are well-known for their chic and durable leather upholstery that acquires a beautiful patina over time. In 1968, the company's vision was under the direction of interior designer Sigurd Ressell. Ressell’s most enduring contribution to Vatne Møbler was the 1970 hammock-inspired Falcon armchair. The comfortable, leather-upholstered, X-framed chrome chair, originally named Blank Vals, was the result of a furniture competition for the Industry Council chair competition. In 1971, Vatne began production of the chair under the new "Falcon" name. Within two years, Vatne’s sales tripled as Falcon Chairs sold worldwide, particularly popular in the United States, Japan, Germany, and Australia. Originally produced with a chrome frame, the chair was redesigned with a lighter laminated base in 1974 for easier distribution. The chairs measure 32" tall x 31" wide x 29" deep with a 17" seat height. In original condition- having the early, limited production chrome frames that are solid and sturdy with minimal oxidation. The chairs also have a wonderful, nicely-aged vintage patina to the canvas and brownish-gray colored leather upholstery. Whoever says comfort can't be sexy, has never owned this pair of iconic, award-winning chairs.

Wear consistent with age and use. In original condition, the chairs have aged nicely with a wonderful vintage patina to the canvas and leather and have strong and sturdy chrome frames with minimal oxidation.
