Philip Arctander Sheepskin Clam Chair by Vik & Blindheim

About the Item

"Muslingestolen", aka "the clam chair" lounge chair designed in 1944 by Danish architect Philip Arctander. The chair was first produced in Denmark by Nordisk Staal & Mobel Central. This slightly later version was produced under license by Vik & Blindheim in Norway in the early 1950s, and is slightly larger than the Danish productions. It features stained oak club legs and curved arms. Recently reupholstered in tufted shearling.

    Reupholstered. Wear consistent with age and use. Only the slightest observable wear to the legs, consistent with age and use. This chair has been very well cared for and is in excellent vintage condition.
