Rare Donald Deskey Lounge Chair for Metallon circa 1930s

About the Item

Rare Art Deco Chrome Lounge Chair, designed by Donald Deskey for Metallon, American, circa 1930s. This chair is documented in the period magazine Arts and Decoration, April 1935, pg. 31. See last two photos. It is also documented in the Sotheby's 12/9/2005 auction, Lot 211, where another example in a painted finish was sold. The example we are selling is only the second example we have seen come to market in the 30 years we have been collecting American Art Deco, and the only example known in it's original chrome finish. We believe the leather to be original also. The leather has a couple tears, see detail photos. We love the original leather and patina. If you prefer, we can upholster it in your fabric for an additional $700. Simply send us 6 yards of your fabric after purchase.
