Scandinavian Midcentury "Biri" Lounge Chairs by Harry Moen and Torbjørn Afdal
About the Item
These lounge chairs are early pieces from the iconic Biri series, designed specifically for Norwegian mountain cabins by Harry Moen and Torbjørn Afdal for Bruksbo Tegnekontor. The construction highlights a combination of robust craftsmanship and natural materials, reflecting Scandinavian functionalism and rustic charm. The frame is crafted from solid pine, showcasing its warm grain and sturdy structure, with a focus on simplicity and durability.
The backrest and seat are held in place with woven natural leather straps, adding flexibility and support while creating an organic visual texture. The cushions are upholstered in a muted grayish-blue wool fabric, providing both comfort and subtle elegance. Characterized by their angular armrests and gently reclined proportions, these chairs offer an inviting and relaxed seating experience—perfect for a cozy cabin retreat.
The Biri series stands as a timeless testament to Norwegian design, blending utility with understated beauty, and has become a sought-after collectible for enthusiasts of mid-century Scandinavian furniture.
Condition: Very good condition with patina on the wood and leather. The cushions are new and upholstered in high quality wool fabric.
