About the Item

This rare and iconic “Steady” model lounge chair was designed by Norwegian designer Gunnar Sørlie, a notable figure in Scandinavian mid-century design. Originally conceived in the 1950s–60s, the piece has been meticulously restored, combining timeless Nordic craftsmanship with modern comfort. The chair features a sculptural solid teak frame with refined angles and exceptional joinery. It has been newly upholstered in premium natural sheepskin / shearling which brings a soft, tactile warmth to the otherwise minimalist silhouette. About the Designer: Gunnar Sørlie was an influential Norwegian designer active during the golden age of Scandinavian modernism. Known for his refined sense of proportion, ergonomic designs, and quality craftsmanship, his work is increasingly sought after by collectors and design connoisseurs. Sørlie’s pieces often combine functionalist principles with organic forms, making them enduring staples of Nordic design heritage. The chair is easily disassembled for shipping for a reasonable price.
