About the Item
The sculptural armchair exhibited at Design miami '23 is made from vegan leather (4 layers of linen and 1 of Belgian cotton) with a leopard-inspired print on top, made with ecological and sustainable paint. Collectible design and unique piece, It has a wooden structure and vegan leather seating. The Fastest Vegan Leather Chair Ever was designed by Barcelona-based acclaimed designer Jordi Ribaudí.
The armchair -that actually is like a throne- is a reflection on the contrasting concepts of form/appearance and object/symbol. It reveals the contradictions between what we want to appear to be and what we really are. The designer incorporates these reflections within his working methods; ideas which are reflected in the furniture pieces he makes, usually by hand, from vegetable-tanned animal leather. However, with the request of Design Miami, he has accepted the challenge of incorporating “vegan” leather and produced a material derived from linen; a material that reflects sustainability, between reality and artifice.
