About the Item

Set of 2 Danish Modern black leather armchairs and matching table from the Modus series, designed by Kristian Vedel for Willadsen Møbelfabrik. This 1960s Scandinavian Modern set features gorgeous rosewood frames with curved details and minimalistic legs. Original black lived-in leather upholstery, slung arms, and goose feather filling make the armchairs exceptionally comfortable. The petite proportions of the square glass-top table pair perfectly to create a casual seating area. Denmark, 1960s. Kristian Solmer Vedel was a Danish industrial designer from the 20th Century who had a significant influence on the Scandinavian Design movement. Vedel has been awarded 1st prize by Copenhagen Cabinetmakers Guild (1947), Louisiana Museum Prize (1957), gold medal at La Triennale di Milano, the Design Award at Interplast in London (1961), and the Lunning Prize (1962). In January–May 2007, Trapholt Museum in Denmark mounted a retrospective exhibition of Vedel’s major works.     All three pieces are in great vintage condition. The leather has creasing throughout, aligning with age and use. Maker’s marks are located on the bottom of each piece, and paperwork is included.
