About the Item

Pair of easy chairs designed in the 1960s by Dutch designer Gijs van der Sluis. The frames have a graphite gray color with wear and tear corresponding with age and use. The fabric is still in very good condition. The chairs themselves are not very big, but they do have a large seat and backrest. This allows them to maintain great comfort and makes them suitable for smaller spaces. Very stable and sturdy objects. H x W x D = 27.2-14.2 x 24.8 x 24 inch Bibliography: Catalog “Van Der Sluis Steel Furniture”, 1961, p. 17

Pair of Dordrecht Chairs by Wim Van Gelderen for Spectrum, the Netherlands 1950s
By Wim van Gelderen, 't Spectrum
Located in Aartselaar, BE
Dordrecht Chairs by Wim van Gelderen for 't Spectrum, the Netherlands. Naive, modernist, vintage armchairs in a light-colored oak. They pair beautifully with the "elephant grey" textured fabric. It's rare to find a pair of these Dutch modernist plywood chairs that were produced in the early 1950s. The design of these chairs is very elegant and does not show that they are a design of the 50s, since they look a lot more modern than they really are. The perfect neutral, yet sculptural chair for any kind of vintage, modernist of contemporary project. In excellent original condition. Newly upholstered by a professional craftsman in high-quality, textured velours fabric. Check out our Daddy Deco...

Pair of Alfred Hendrickx S3 Armchairs, Belform, Belgium, 1958
By Alfred Hendrickx, Belform
Located in The Hague, NL
The S3 chair was designed by Alfred Hendrickx and produced by Belform in Belgium in 1958. This rare chair was a custom design by Hendrickx for the Sabena Airlines first class lounge in Zaventem Airport, Brussels. The three-legged, black lacquered frame is a stunning example of modernist design combined with streamline influences. Overseeing the entire interior of the Sabena lounge, Hendrickx had decided to upholster and use the S-3 chairs in three different colors: red, blue and green. Only 50 chairs...
