Swedish Modern Clam Chair in White Teddy Fabric and Beech, 1940s

About the Item

This rare 'clam' chair was produced by a Swedish cabinetmaker in the late 1940s. The design is characterized by rounded lines that flow organically from the backrest to the sides and seat. The frame stands on four rounded, slightly tapered, club-shaped legs made of solid beech wood. The chair is visually appealing from all angles, making it perfect for freestanding placement in a room. Thanks to its cozy, 'hugging' shape, the chair is also very comfortable to sit in. The chair is in overall very good condition. It has been newly upholstered in a soft, white faux shearling fabric. The legs with a natural patina and minor signs of wear. Other designers working in the same Scandinavian Modern style include Arnold Madsen, Philip Arctander and Viggo Boesen.
