An absolutely exquisite collectors example of the large scale 'Zator' swivel club chair and ottoman by illustrious architect and designer Guido Faleschini for i4 Mariani, Italy. Designed in 1971, this example, as evidenced by construction details and the particular Mariani repeat fabric used on the back side of the cushions (see photos) was produced around that time in the early 1970s which means it is an "original" to the design - and with its original cognac colored leather - making this this rare hard-to-find lounge chair ideal for collectors or anyone who wants the best of the best. If you love 1970s Italian design as much as we do, this rare 'Zator' club chair and ottoman is a must-have for any collector and is a prime example of the design. First - as previously mentioned this is an early year original signed example produced in, or close to, 1971. Second, it is in the most desired and in-demand colorway - the classic 'Cognac' colored leather - the original leather it was produced in, not reupholstered over the years like you normally find - this chair and ottoman possesses the actual same leather it was made in in the early 1970s. And third, the condition and patina is exceptional. No tears or major issues to the leather, no major fading, no major rusting to the chrome bases - just light and even patina as you want and love to see. It doesn't get any better than this - if you or your client wants the best, look no further. Guido Faleschini was inspired by outer space travel and projecting a new and futuristic living experience. The 'Zator' easy chair makes you feel like Buzz Aldrin sitting in the cockpit of a rocket ship. It is a large scaled throne chair that is incredibly comfortable and ergonomic. As a swivel chair you can easily re-position the direction you are facing to change the view or change the person you are speaking to. The details on the chair and ottoman are sporty as well - from the tufting to the unique stitching details - reminiscent of a baseball glove. All on top of chromed steel bases. Some light patina / oxidation to chrome base which can be polished off if desired. We left the patina for those who prefer to keep it but it can be removed with a light hand polish. Leather has some very light and minor nicks, scuffs, scrapes and scratches around the base of the ottoman and chair but mostly only visible upon close inspection. From regular view this chair and ottoman are in beautiful showroom ready condition. Overall very nice and attractive example ready for immediate use.
