About the Item

SPRING is a small armchair in polished solid beech wood, with ebony insets in the backrest.‎ The seat is in nondeformable polyurethane, with fabric or leather covering.‎ The arms and the back are connected to the seat by a solid beech wood part which contains a metal mechanism for added spring action and elasticity.‎ The small armchair is available in two versions: a fixed one with the legs equipped with spring-loaded wheels and foot-caps in PVC, and a swivel version with four castors and the frame in die cast aluminum, covered in solid beech wood and the insets of the footrests in aluminum.‎ Massimo Scolari (born 1943 in Novi Ligure, Italy) is an architect, designer, and artist. He graduated with a degree in architecture in Milan in 1969. In 1973, he became a professor of History of Architecture at Palermo and of Drawing at the Istituto Universitario di Architettura di Venezia (IUAV). He has been a visiting professor at numerous universities including Harvard, Yale, Cornell, and Cooper Union. He began designing furniture for Giorgetti in 1989 and functioned as the manufacturer's art director until 2001. His art is included in the permanent collections of several museums worldwide including the Museum of Modern Art, New York; Centres Pompidou, Paris; and the Deutsches Architektur Museum, Frankfurt. The tradition of Giorgetti goes back to more than 100 years ago when it started its activity in Brianza and it still forges ahead with innovation, conserving the patrimony of its experience in cabinet making. The uniqueness of Giorgetti lies in its capacity to make quality and innovation parts of its life. Its furnishing style can be immediately identified and defined as ‘the Giorgetti style’, unique and original, characterized at the source by its atypical uniqueness. These values materialize into products that dismiss the ordinary to create exclusive and versatile solutions, in the respect of a refined and unmistakable character that seduces by the beauty of its contrasts. The products manufactured by Giorgetti are a prime example of Made and Manufactured in Italy. Starting from design, creativity and style, up to the actual production, the entire production process is entirely made in Italy by highly qualified personnel having great skills in the furniture sector. Giorgetti products are functional and made of long-lasting quality materials and are made with eco-friendly efficient technologies. The Made in Italy artisan production surpasses the logic of the standard product and guarantees a high level of product customization.
