About the Item

Dimitri Omersa was a Yugoslav-British designer best known for his iconic leather animal-shaped poufs. The first leather pig was made in 1927 for Liberty of London by "Old Bill," using leftover leather from luggage. In 1958, Omersa took over production and expanded the line to include donkeys, elephants, and more. Omersa's designs became popular internationally, winning a gold medal at the California State Fair in 1963. After his death in 1975, his wife continued the business. Today, Omersa's handcrafted leather animals, made using eco-friendly materials, are still produced by artisans in the UK. Pouf/ottoman in pork leather. Circa 1965. Manufactured by Omersa & Co, Lincolnshire England for Liberty's of London. Dimensions :  H : 44 cm  64 cm D : 35 cm/H : 17.32 in W : 25.2 in D : 13.78 in
