"Legs Up", is a one-of-a-kind piece as part of Jason Andrew Turner's "Welcome Home" collection. This piece is hand painted and hand crafted by the artist in the United States with acrylic on MDF, featuring his signature abstract brushstroke design. This pieces measures 18"h x 20.5"w x 15.5"d with the "seat" at 14" high.
This ottoman is designed and handcrafted by the artist, signed underneath the seat. This leg rest with its abstract design and subtle gradient of bright colors is a unique piece of furniture that can be paired with additional pieces from the artist's collection or can be a standalone piece.
Jason Andrew Turner’s installation at Paradigm Gallery showcases his gestural, process-based practice and its surface applications from furniture to textiles.
Turner often begins with a sketch in sumi ink, redrawing and repeating the lines of the brushstrokes in countless iterations. In each phase, the artist attempts to make sense of a messy, maximalist, overwhelming reality; mental health and the nature of perception are key themes in Turner’s work. Intuitive color relationships and intentional spontaneity permeate the new body of work in a visual representation of organized chaos.

Jason Andrew Turner
Jason Andrew Turner (b. 1982, Birmingham, AL) is a visual artist currently based in rural North Carolina. In these newest works, he begins with an armature of sumi ink, laying a thread of black ink as a pathway. Color is applied along the linear architecture relating to the emotional and cultural refection of color meaning. This slows the immediate path to create a narrative that is both reflective and a reaction to society at large. The configurations are often repeated gestures that relate with behavioral actions, emotional states, anxiety, and symbiotic community. Jason holds a BFA from Savannah College of Art and Design.
