Pair of vintage Italian poufs with original fabric of the time in orange velvet

About the Item

An elegant pair of Italian poufs from the 1950s, this set is a perfect example of the refined design of that era. The poufs retain their original velvet fabric in a warm orange color, enriched with delicate geometric patterns that add a touch of vibrancy and style. The sturdy structure is made of wood, while the slightly curved legs give the poufs a light and harmonious look, evoking the elegant shape of a small horn. Despite the passage of time, the poufs maintain their original charm. The velvet, while showing some signs of aging, is in good condition and adds a sense of authenticity and history to the set. The soft, sinuous lines of the structure, combined with the simplicity of the details, express the refined elegance that characterizes mid-century Italian design. This pair of ottomans stands out for its versatility: it fits perfectly in classic settings, bringing a touch of retro charm, but it also adapts well to more modern spaces that call for an element of warmth and sophistication. Their understated and classy design makes them ideal for furnishing living rooms, bedrooms, or lounges with style and elegance, adding a focal point of undeniable allure. A piece of history that will enhance any environment, combining functionality and beauty in perfect harmony.

Italian Designer Pair Poufs with Velvet Cushions and Aluminum Structure
Located in Prato, Tuscany
We kindly suggest you read the whole description, because with it we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects. Iconic and refined pair of poufs with velvet cushions and aluminum frame; the almost square top of the poufs has been restored and upholstered with an expensive, elegant, and sturdy velvet in a delicate but bold green color; the seat is supported by a solid, massive aluminum column and pivoted to it in such a way that it can rotate freely through 360°; from the column branch off four boldly shaped, slightly curved, and extremely sturdy legs at the end of which are placed non-slip rubber feet; these sturdy legs give exceptional stability to the whole. The pair of poufs were handcrafted between 1960 and 1965 in Meda in the province of Monza and Brianza in Lombardy, Italy, a place famous for its design industry and historic handcrafted production of classic and modern furniture. The artisans were inspired by fashion design in those fascinating and creative 1960s, a design that left room for creative freedom and innovation, a design that explodes into a variety of styles and movements that explain its richness, making room for roundness, freedom of form and movement, lightness and simplicity. The artisans were inspired by the desire to devise two small-sized objects with strong, simple lines and gave the pair of poufs a timeless elegance; their design plays between austerity and strictness, and their exaggerated linearity gives the objects a dynamic and stately character. Here, the designer's creativity and craftsmanship come together in an exclusive product, a unique modern furnishing accessory that is both refined and elegant at the same time and fits naturally and simply into both contemporary and classic environments. The 1960s was the time of the advent of pop art, with its bright colors, rounded shapes, plastic and wood, steel and aluminum forming a hitherto unthinkable meeting. 60s furniture...
