Italian Rocking Armchair from the Rationalist Period, in of Rope

About the Item

Rare rocking chair from the 1920s Italian Rationalist period of Italian manufacture. The armchair is placed in the European Bauhaus period. The armchair is well constructed with solid wood surrounding its surface. While the seat and its back are a whole together made of rope fabric. The armrests and legs are made from a single curved wooden shell. A great piece of Italian history very rare and very bold but at the same time a Classic that never fades. Italian rationalism is based on very precise rules according to the proportions of the golden section, and at the same time modern forms and structures merge with a volumetric layout and balance of classical architectural space. Common element is the reduction of form to an essentiality to which correspond maximum functionality. Industrial objects, characterized by standardization and reproducibility. Polemical content toward classical monumentalism. Use of materials in relation to Industrial Production and social and political commitments.
