Curved modular Flabello sofa, design by Ugo La Pietra, 1986

About the Item

Breaking away from the linear pattern, yet simultaneously serving as a connector, Flabello takes center stage in the room for the creation of highly original and dynamic living zones. It's an upholstered armchair equipped with a concealed "undertrack" side table, which, once pulled out, allows it to be combined with other elements, such as two end pieces and a center unit, forming a semi-circular sofa ensemble for gathering. The complex craftsmanship of the base in a polished copper finish supports the upholstered seat, adding a touch of sophistication and emphasizing the intrinsic value of Flabello's original covering. The product comes with a certificate of authenticity issued by the Gruppo Industriale Busnelli. Ugo La Pietra is one of the leading figures in contemporary Italian design and art. Born in Milan in 1938, he is known for his innovative research exploring the relationship between aesthetics, culture, and everyday life. La Pietra was a founding member of the "Progetto design" movement and contributed to the debate on functional and social design, promoting an idea of design that goes beyond the object to embrace the environment and visual communication. His works span from industrial design to visual art, including projects related to architecture, set design, and graphics. His aesthetic reflects a deep reflection on popular culture, consumerism, and social dynamics, always offering original and thought-provoking solutions.
