19th Century Carved Conversation Borne Settee Tête-à-tête

About the Item

Step into the enchanting world of opulence with this exquisite Borne Settee, a resplendent blend of timeless elegance and whimsical charm. Upholstered in the finest white button tufted Belgian bouclé, this circular marvel beckons you to sink into its plush comfort and indulge in moments of respite. Crafted to perfection, this antique Borne settee boasts four individual seats, each gracefully separated by majestic borne posts adorned with intricately carved griffins. These mythical creatures stand as guardians of luxury, their presence lending an air of mythical grandeur to this divine creation. This piece features masterful craftsmanship of its frame, entirely hand-carved to perfection. Cherub faces peek out from amidst the intricate scrollwork, their angelic countenances whispering tales of bygone eras. At the heart of this masterpiece stands a towering post, where a cherub, with arms outstretched in celestial embrace, cradles a plate adorned with a carved glass bowl. Overflowing with verdant foliage, this vessel of nature's bounty invites the spirit of the outdoors into your midst, transforming your space into a sanctuary of serenity. We acquired this piece from the halls of a fabulous mansion in Encino, California, where it was enjoyed for decades, This remarkable borne settee bears the marks of time, its weathered patina telling stories of centuries past. Though believed to be from the mid 1900s, its origins are shrouded in mystery, adding to its allure and mystique. Embrace the allure of yesteryear with this Borne settee, a treasure trove of history and elegance that transcends the boundaries of time and space, beckoning you to indulge in the splendor of the past. This borne settee or conversation sofa would look incredible in a large entryway of a home, hotel, or perhaps other retail commercial space. When we acquired this piece, initially we wanted to have it ebonized, but the craftsmanship as well as overall heavy patina proved to be just too beautiful to change. This piece would look great with French Provincial, rococo, traditional, regency or Hollywood regency styling-- or perhaps you can blend with some modern artwork and furniture for a conversation piece.
