French Regence Style Settee

About

A nicely-carved French walnut settee or canapé with serpentine back, nicely-sculpted arms, seven legs (Regence style, circa 1870), upholstered in a Baroque style fabric with nail head trim. Carving features stylized scallop shells, acanthus leaves, diaper ground, rinceaux, and other motifs characteristic of the Regence period in France (1700-1730).
