About the Item

This settee is typical of De Feure’s style at the turn of the 20th century. The high back with swooping lines, paired with straight legs curving toward their meeting with the seat, is reminiscent of pieces De Feure created for the, 1900 Paris exposition universal. The painted wood frame and ornately rounded seats draw similarities with the artist’s creations for that exhibition. De Feure pieces resembling this remarkable settee can be found in the Designmuseum Danmark in Copenhagen, and the Chrysler Museum of Art in Norfolk, Virginia.
