We are delighted to offer for sale this very rare original vintage hand dyed cigar brown leather gentleman’s Chesterfield club sofa I have the matching four seater which is being restored in the next few weeks When looking at Chesterfield club sofas they can all seem much of a muchness, however in the details you find the differences and in the differences you find the quality, this piece one of the best models you can buy The sofa is upholstered with thick premium 100% cattle hide untreated plain russet leather originally, this method of upholstery is substantially more expensive than using pre-dyed leather, you can still have the best English Chesterfields made in this manor today but a piece of this size would be £10,000-£15,000 depending where you shop and what base you chose. The pillared arms have nice pleated folded leather around the top, I've only ever seen that on one other sofa and its a charming feature The way you can tell the piece is an original hand dyed Chesterfield is by pulling back the folds of leather, in the crease you will see the natural colour of the hide, these sofas are made with plain leather and then hand dyed to the customer’s specific colour choice, no two pieces are ever exactly the same and this process goes back hundreds of years All in all this is basically the best of the best, if you’re looking for the best then look no further!
