Woven Rattan Antique Settee

About the Item

A rustic Javanese teak wood three-seat settee from the Turn of the Century with inset woven rattan seat and back. Infusing an air of rustic charm and understated elegance, this Javanese teak wood three-seat settee, hailing from the Turn of the Century, circa 1900, is a handsome piece that effortlessly marries functionality with aesthetic finesse. Crafted with precision, the settee features a solid teak wood frame which exudes warmth and robustness, indicative of the rich heritage of Javanese craftsmanship. The settee features inset woven rattan that adorns both the seat and back. The earthy texture and weave pattern of the rattan effortlessly complement the hues of the teak, creating a harmonious visual effect. This traditional handwoven technique is a nod to timeless Indonesian artistry. The arms are sculptural. Graceful scrolling designs lend an air of refinement and gentle sophistication. These hand-crafted arms serve not only as a resting place but as an embodiment of the artistry of the era. The settee rests on turned baluster legs in the front, which are quintessential of the period's furniture style. These legs, with their sturdy yet elegant demeanor, ground the settee and are a fine example of the attention to detail inherent in traditional woodworking. With a generous seating area, this settee is as much about comfort as it is about style. The natural materials and timeless design make it a versatile piece that can enhance a range of interiors, from rustic to colonial or even contemporary settings. This Turn of the Century Javanese settee is an ensemble of the rich cultural heritage, impeccable craftsmanship, and organic materials. It is a find for any connoisseur of furniture artistry looking to add a touch of history and rustic elegance to their space.

Wonderful vintage modern rattan & woven rawhide sofa or settee with loose green chenille cushions by McGuire. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear even if it has been refinished or restored. Specifically, one seat cushion has a spot at the seam where the fabric has separated a bit, and the black under-threads are showing. It is not a hole. Also, there is some fading on the chenille from age and use. Please see photos and zoom in for details as they are part of the condition report. We attempt to portray any imperfections.
