Antique King George III Period Wheelback Armchair or Side Chair Frame

About the Item

This antique armchair frame is unsigned, but presumed to have originated from England and date to approximately 1790 and done in the period King George III style. The chair is composed of walnut and features a large spoked wheel back with a stylized compass marquetry hub. This hand crafted wheel back has hand forged steel support brackets on etiher side. This chair frame is in good sturdy period condition, but the needlepoint upholstery shows considerable wear and fading. Please note we have an additioal pair of matching chairs posted should you require more than one.

    Wear consistent with age and use. Minor losses. Minor structural damages. The frame shows wear at the joint of the wheel and left front arm area, and some wear to the edges of the legs and stretchers.There is considerable wear, and fading to the seat upholstery as presented in the photos, consistent with age and use.
